Hirotaka Shirotsubaki - Trivial Affair (Album)
My approach to my work and my composition style has always been consistent. It involves recalling scenes and landscapes from past memories and recreating the music that played during those moments. The pieces in this album were composed in the same way, with everything created using an electric guitar and a few pedals.
I’ve woven my precious memories into music, whether it's the view from the bus on the way to the hospital with my mother as a child, a summer vacation trip during my university days, or the color of the rainy sea seen with my late grandfather.
I would be delighted if, by listening to this album, it helps you recall your own landscapes of memory.
Michael It’z - Mnemonica (Album)
This album was born in a completely natural way after having experienced the loss of a loved one first hand, a loss caused by a very common disease, Halzeimer. This album is my personal reflection on memories and time, without presumption or sanctimoniousness I try to tell with a set of sounds the sensation that I imagine you can feel when the disease hits you in its initial phase, the slow and constant loss of memory of memories and people dear to us. The backbone of this album is the piano, a very powerful and melancholy instrument in my opinion, effects also play a very important role in this work; Delays, echoes, gates, reverbs and distortions are the backdrop to many vocal samples and looped dialogues that try to represent past experiences that are now blurry and struggle not to be forgotten but which slowly give way to empty and redundant noises and echoes.
Binary Phaze - Whispers of a Silent Year (Album)
Whispers of a Silent Year is a profound exploration of ambient soundscapes, crafted with meticulous attention to detail by Binary Phaze. This album transcends the boundaries of conventional music, presenting an auditory experience that is both intimate and expansive.
Forgoing rhythmic elements, Whispers of a Silent Year is built upon a foundation of field recordings, drones, pads, melodies, and textures. Each sound is carefully sculpted using an array of hardware synthesizers, including modular systems, and captured entirely on 1/4 inch tape. This approach imbues the album with a warmth and authenticity that can only be achieved through analogue processes.
The album's title reflects a unique period in Binary Phaze's creative journey—a year marked by relative silence, during which music creation was sparse. Despite this quiet period, Binary Phaze managed to gather eight evocative tracks that span 45 minutes, each one a testament to the power of patience and introspection.
In this collection, Binary Phaze delves into the subtleties of sound, weaving together layers of gentle whispers and ambient hums. The result is a seamless tapestry of sonic textures that evoke a sense of stillness and introspection. The absence of rhythm allows the listener to float freely through the soundscapes, unanchored and open to the nuances of each moment.
Binary Phaze offers an auditory sanctuary in Whispers of a Silent Year, a place where time stands still, and the only movement is the gentle ebb and flow of sound. This album is an invitation to pause, listen, and be present in the quiet moments that often pass unnoticed.
